It’s a tale of two SUPERGIRLs as DC prepares a movie take on the popular character!

Supergirl aka Kara Zor-El may be winning over hearts and minds with her super-endearing television show on The CW, but that’s not stopping DC from redeveloping the character for the big screen.

DC and Warner Bros. have hired Oren Uziel, a screenwriter whose credits include 22 Jump Street and The Cloverfield Paradox, to develop a movie script based on the character. No word yet on whether Superman himself would be involved in the story.

Uziel most recently worked on scripts for Sonic The Hedgehog and Mortal Kombat adaptations that are in the works, so he’s no stranger to rewriting known characters for new films.

Supergirl was first introduced by DC Comics in 1959 and received her own comic run in 1972.

Per usual, the DC movie universe and the DC television universe will not overlap if this adaptation comes to fruition.
