Ryan Reynolds drops the latest details on the next installment in the DEADPOOL franchise.
According to Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, who donned the red suit to bring the merc with a mouth to the big screen in earlier this year, fans won’t have to wait as long for the second installment in the series. Reynolds confirmed that “we’re just in the development stage but we’re about to move into production,” also adding that casting for Cable is already underway. Cable, for those who remember, was teased to make an appearance in any future sequels during the Deadpool post credits scene of the first movie.
Reynolds also shared some other details of the project. David Leitch of the surprise hit film John Wick will head the project and direct the second chapter of the Deadpool saga. Producer Simon Kinberg who worked on Deadpool also wanted to emphasize the importance of fidelity and make sure it is carried over from the first film.
“That’s the biggest mandate going into on the second film: to not make it bigger. We have to resist the temptation to make it bigger in scale and scope, which is normally what you do when you have a surprise hit movie. But actually stay true to the tenets of it’s the tone and the style and the humor that make it so special — it’s not the explosions and the special effects.”
Can’t wait for Deadpool 2? No release date has been announced but hopefully it will be in cinemas sooner rather than later!
