Deadpool Sequel Perhaps in Works
Deadpool fans rejoice. After struggling to get his own film it looks like Deadpool may be getting a sequel. The Hollywood Reporter has announced that the screenwritersrs Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been brought back for the file which has already been greenlit. Although it is important to keep in mind that if the film tanks in theatres or doesn’t do as well as the TV execs think it should this could all change.
Reports suggest that 20th Century Fox wants to keep the same team working on the sequel however it is unknown whether director Tim Miller will be returning.
A couple of months ago producer Simon Kinberg confirmed that a conversation had started regarding a sequel.
We certainly are talking about the sequel—we were talking about the sequel while we were making the movie just because when you make a film like this that’s from a serialized source material, you hope that it’s the first of many… But yeah [Fox is] feeling good about it, we’re all feeling really proud of it, so hopefully before it comes out we will be well into the process of figuring out a sequel.
The offical synopsis for the film.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
