The Defenders is prepping for its big team-up debut on Netflix with an Entertainment Weekly first look featuring, photos, video, and new details!

The show will bring together the title characters from previous series Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, but it won’t be a cheery, voluntary sort of gathering, according to showrunner Marco Ramirez.

“Every one of them is following their own trail of bread crumbs, trying to unpack a mystery in New York. We wanted them all caught off guard. Once they’re in that room together, it’s kind of like, ‘Oh, s—, who are you?’”

The series of reveals also featured the scoop on Sigourney Waever’s villain character: Her name is Alexandra, and she has no prior history in the shows or comics. She got a level of “intellectual sophistication” a la Wilson Fisk, but a fearsome power that threatens everyone.

“Her character is a very powerful force in New York City. She’s everything Sigourney is: sophisticated, intellectual, dangerous.”

The sneak peeks show off a bright, poppy cover featuring the whole gang together, plus a mix of episode stills and photos from EW’s own shoot with the stars.
