Disney will be re-energizing the popularity of their animated classic THE LION KING with a new TV movie and series!
THE LION GUARD will follow Simba and Nala’s son, Kion, as he joins a special guard unit charged with protecting the Pride Lands. All the beloved characters from the original movie will be featured, along with Kion’s sister Kiara (who starred in the sequel), but there will be also be several new characters who make up the Lion Guard, including a honey badger, a cheetah, a hippo, and an egret.
THE LION GUARD will have a strong conservation theme. The TV Movie is due out in fall 2015 with the series following in early 2016.
