Prepare to buy lots of Disney-related movie tickets in 2019!
Disney has announced its release date line-up for 2019, and it includes some big titles!
Perhaps the most exciting in the bunch is the scheduled release of Star Wars: Episode XI, the last final in the modern Star Wars trilogy, which breaks the pattern of December openings with a May 24, 2019 release date. It’s not the first movie in the franchise reboot that will do so– the Young Han Solo movie is due out May 25, 2018– but it is the first in the extended chronology to go for summer blockbuster status.
The studio surprised fans by moving up Jon Favreau‘s The Lion King live-action remake to a July 19, 2019 release date… and pushing back the next Indiana Jones movie to 2020 in the process.
There’s also some big news for diehard Frozen fans: The Disney animated classic’s sequel will bow on November 27, 2019, kicking off the holiday movie season.
All of these movies are bound to be huge, but they’re not the only ones coming from the studio that year. The company previously announced 2019 releases for Avengers 4 on May 3rd and Toy Story 4 on June 21st.
