Disney Planning STAR WARS Standalone For Boba Fett

STAR WARS bounty hunter Boba Fett is ready to take the spotlight!

After a barrage of rumors for years, Disney is making it official: Boba Fett is getting his own Star Wars universe movie!

The famed intergalactic bounty hunter is set to get his own story thanks to director James Mangold, best know for Logan. He’ll collaborate with X-Men franchise producer Simon Kinberg, who will co-write the screenplay alongside the director as well as produce, according to Variety.

Boba Fett made his first appearance in The Empire Strikes Back and despite a relatively small role, he became a favorite in the fandom. Thanks to the extended universe, particularly The Clone Wars animated series, the character was built up into a larger part of the narrative.

Lucasfilm has not announced a timeline for the project. The story is also under wraps, but we really, really hope Enfys Nest is involved.

Back in August, the studio announced the development of a spinoff based on Obi-Wan Kenobi with Stephen Daldry (The Reader) attached to direct. There’s also been rumors that the studio would like to do something based off a young Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover,) but the wheels haven’t been set in motion quite yet.
