The first trailer for Disney’s Stargirl, based on the 2000 Young Adult novel by Jerry Spinelli, just hit the internet.
A “celebration of nonconformity,” Stargirl follows a teenager who goes by Stargirl (Grace VanderWaal) who starts sophomore year at her local high school after years of being homeschooled. With a bright personality and ukulele in hand, Stargirl’s eccentric habits are admired by everyone, including shy Leo Borlock (Graham Verchere.) But soon, Leo notices the vicious tide of popularity turning against Stargirl and has to decide between keeping his head down and being his true self alongside the unapologetic girl he’s fallen for.
The film also stars Giancarlo Esposito, Darby Stanchfield, Karan Brar, and Shelby Simmons.
Of course, this Stargirl is not to be confused with DC’s Stargirl, a new superhero show which is also ramping up advertisement.

Stargirl comes to the Disney+ streaming service on March 13, 2020.
