The DIVERGENT SERIES: ALLEGIANT Premiere Experience

Our staffers react to their time at the DIVERGENT SERIES: ALLEGIANT premiere!

On Monday, March 14th, The Fandom staffers Adam and Ariel headed to the premiere of The Divergent Series: Allegiant in New York City. Now, they’re sharing their experiences and giving their thoughts on the movie! Take a look!

Adam’s Experience:

Those who have talked to me about the Divergent series know I have made no secret of preferring the first book most of all, then Insurgent, and then Allegiant as a distant third. For that reason, I went into the Allegiant premiere expecting to adore the great actors and actresses — but I kept lower hopes for the movie itself. Adding to that was the lukewarm reviews that had been circulating on Rotten Tomatoes and other sites, so I prepared myself to be pleasantly surprised if it turned out to be good. And then — I was surprised!

I actually liked Allegiant more than I liked Insurgent, thanks to a more intriguing plot line, better action sequences, and most of all — some super cool futuristic sets and effects! Really, I was not prepared for this, after some of the questionable CGI choices in Insurgent, particularly at the end. We all know Shailene Woodley can act up a storm, Naomi Watts is a jewel of the cinema, and Theo James is a hunk and a half, but it was nice to see them actually put to use in a way that capitalized on their talents. And always providing great comedic entertainment is Miles Teller, who at times singlehandedly stole the show.

As for the overall event — though I wasn’t able to spend much time on the red carpet due to work commitments — I know Ariel enjoyed herself tremendously there, and we had an absolute blast at the afterparty. Seeing Naomi Watts and Zoe Kravitz, among others, mingling in their fine attire was a wonderful treat, and the food was absolutely amazing. That might be the best mozzarella cheese I’ve ever tasted! We were also fortunate to have maybe the best seats in the entire theater, so please let me express a heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Summit/Lionsgate for showing is a spectacular time.

I went in not knowing what to expect, but I came out pledging my allegiance to Allegiant. Go see it somewhere soon, no matter what the crusty critics say.

Ariel’s Experience:

The evening was wonderful. I got my hair done at Dry Bar in a fauxhawk braid earlier that afternoon, donned a little black dress and some gold jewelry, and headed over to the theater. The red carpet didn’t yield as many signatures/photos as I would have liked, but it was exciting to be there nevertheless. The movie was a lot of fun. I didn’t have such high hopes for it, and it surpassed my expectations. I mostly enjoyed the special effects and the beauty of the sets and scenery. The after party at Cipriani was amazing. I felt like someone special. Naomi Watts was eating the same food as I was! Zoe Kravitz was just chilling on a couch nearby. The decor was beautiful and the food was amazing. The presence single malt scotch at the bar was a perfect addition to the evening. It was even worth wearing heels.
