While Whovians won’t get a new series of Doctor Who until the spring of 2017, fans will get a little taste with the Christmas special, premiering on Christmas Day.
BBC has recently released a sneak peek into the Doctor Who Christmas special, “The Return of Doctor Mysterio,” which will premiere on December 25, 2016. The preview has interviews with Peter Capaldi and showrunner, Steven Moffat, and some behind-the-scenes footage from the episode.
The episode will have the Doctor teaming up with a comic book superhero in New York City, which, according to Peter Capaldi, helps captures Who‘s “warmer feel.” Additionally, Moffat says that the characters and the episode clearly illustrate “the Doctor’s boundless heart and huge optimism.”
This Christmas on BBC AMERICA, the Doctor teams up with a comic-book superhero in New York for a heroic special written by Steven Moffat, titled The Return of Doctor Mysterio.
The hit BBCA series will return on Christmas day as the Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, teams up with an investigative journalist, played by Charity Wakefield (Wolf Hall, The Player) and a superhero to save New York from a deadly alien threat.
