Doctor Doom Actor Reveals Major Character Backstory Change for THE FANTASTIC FOUR

THE FANTASTIC FOUR has promised us a fresh take on the comics, but there’s been very little revealed. Now, the main antagonist is revealing who his character defers somewhat drastically from its comic counterpart.

Toby Kebbell, who will play Doctor Doom in the reboot, says that his character will not be an influential leader of a fictional Eastern European country or a savvy but corrupt billionaire as he has been in the comics and other movie incarnations. In fact, he doesn’t even have the same name.

He’s Victor Domashev, not Victor Von Doom in our story. And I’m sure I’ll be sent to jail for telling you that. The Doom in ours—I’m a programmer. Very anti-social programmer. And on blogging sites I’m “Doom”.

While this may come as a shock to some, the change makes sense for plausibility’s sake. With a younger cast, it seems much more likely that Doom would be a hyper-intelligent but loner tech wiz than an hip, young entrepreneur with the world at his fingertips.
