Yes! The next Doctor who is a woman– playing an genderfluid alien who constantly takes on different forms and has referred to being a girl in the past. Keep your cool, folks! The Tardis doesn’t require that The Doctor have man-parts in order to function. We’ll still be exploring space, time, and the human condition in amazing ways.
The actress behind The Thirteenth Doctor is Jodie Whittaker, a prolific movie, television, and stage actress who began her career in 2006. Among her slew of projects, she’s had roles in Attack The Block, One Day, Spike Island, and most notably Broadchurch, where she starred alongside The Tenth Doctor, David Tennant. Broadchurch was also run by the new Doctor Who showrunner, Chris Chibnall.
Whittaker is set to make her first appearance in an upcoming episode titled “The Doctors”.
