Peter Capaldi’s debut night as the twelfth doctor was the most viewed premiere episode in the history of the show in the US!
Though the 2.6 million US viewers were considerably less than the 6.8 million fans in the UK that tuned in to “Deep Breath”, the show was the most watched program on cable television during its time slot and high premiere numbers are a steady testament to the rising success of the show among American audiences.
Despite this, it’s not the highest DOCTOR WHO episode in the ratings. That honor goes to “The Day of the Doctor”, which drummed up 3.6 million viewers in 2013.
