DUMPLIN’s first soundtrack tease is a Dolly Parton remix with the help of Sia!
Dolly Parton plays a major role in Julie Murphy‘s novel Dumplin, which follows Willowdean Dickson, a plus-sized Texas teen with a sharp wit whose protest entry into a beauty pageant to spite her mother shakes up the social hierarchy in her small town. Willowdean is obsessed with Dolly’s music and no-apologies attitude, giving her the confidence to stand out.
Now, Dolly is returning the love with the help of music producer Linda Perry. Together, the two have created an entire soundtrack for the film, which will include new versions of Dolly’s hits and original songs in collaboration with a series of other artists.
A few days ago, Dolly released one of those big collaborations! “Here I Am” was first released in 1971, but Dolly is taking it for a spin once again with the help of Sia!
Well I sure am proud to share the first single from the Dumplin' soundtrack with y'all! I re-recorded "Here I Am" with the incredible @Sia and I sure do hope you love it.
