DUMPLIN’ will get a boost from her idol, Dolly Parton!
Julie Murphy‘s Dumplin’ wouldn’t be quite the same without teen protagonist Willowdean Dickson’s obsession with country legend Dolly Parton, whose music helps Willowdean be unapologetically herself. Now, Dolly Parton is returning the love!
In a new interview with E! News, Parton talked about being approached to have her music used in the film by real life fanatic Jennifer Aniston, who is producing and portraying Willowdean’s mother in the movie.
“…Of course they’re using a lot of my music from the old days but they asked me to write some new pieces and a theme song,” Parton said. “So I’m working with Jennifer on that and a soundtrack album and so I’m excited about that.”
The Dumplin’ movie is currently filming now and author Julie Murphy is on set, where she shared this hilarious tweet about Parton agreeing to write new music for the film:
I thought my life was made. And then @DollyParton was like, "Hold my beer."
