Community and Atlanta star Donald Glover has joined the Spider-Man: Homecoming cast in an undisclosed role.
Donald Glover, who played Troy Barnes in the much-loved series Community, has signed on to join the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the newest reimagined movie of the young webslinger.
Glover will be joining an ever growing cast that includes Tom Holland (Peter Parker), Zendaya, Michael Barbieri, Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, and Robert Downey, Jr. reprising his Tony Stark persona to supposedly help Peter Parker transition in his superhero role.
We don’t know yet what Glover’s role is going to be, but fans have been clamoring to Marvel forever ago to have Glover cast in the role of Miles Morales, the character that takes on the Spider-Man identity after Peter Parker in the Ultimate Marvel comics. Considering that Miles Morales is actually supposed to be younger than Peter Parker, I wouldn’t bet on Glover’s role. It’s still possible, though. Coincidentally, he did play the voice of Miles Morales in the Ultimate Spider-Man animated TV series in 2015.
Aside from Glover’s role in Community, he has also appeared in such feature films as The Lazarus Effect, Magic Mike XXL, and The Martian. He’ll be appearing in the new fall FX series Atlanta, about two cousins working their way through the Atlanta rap scene from two different directions.
