Willowdean starts a protest in the first DUMPLIN’ trailer!
The first trailer for the Netflix adaptation of Julie Murphy‘s Dumplin’ is here!
The book and movie tell the story of Willowdean Dickson (Danielle MacDonald), a plus-sized Texas teen with a sharp wit whose protest entry into a beauty pageant to spite her mother (Jennifer Aniston) shakes up the social hierarchy in her small town. Along the way, she’ll find her courage tested in unexpected ways, because making a statement is never easy.
The trailer shows off Willowdean’s everyday life, including her best friend Ellen (Odeya Rush), her super-extra pageant queen mother, and her crush Bo (Luke Benward). After she enters the beauty pageant, her life gets interesting and she’s inspired to meet more people who just want to live their life to the fullest and make their own path, including Hannah (Bex Taylor-Klaus) and Rhea Ranged (Harold Perrineau).
With a little help from drag queens and Dolly Parton, Willowdean might just learn how much her voice matters and make her mother proud in the process.
Dumplin’ hits Netflix on December 7, 2018.
