From one Emma to another, rumor has it that Emma Watson will be replacing Emma Stone in Greta Gerwig’s LITTLE WOMEN adaptation.
With production scheduled to start next month, Sony Pictures quickly approached Emma Watson when news broke that Emma Stone could no longer be a part of the latest adaptation of Little Women due to promotional obligations for the Fox Searchlight film and award season contender The Favourite.
Following a BBC adaptation of the classic book, which aired late last year, this particular Little Women adaptation already has a start-studded cast. Greta Gerwig is writing and directing while Andrea Giannetti will oversee the production for Sony.
Although roles are still being worked out and we don’t know which sister Watson will be playing, we know that she will be in good company. Meryl Streep, Laura Dern, Saoirse Ronan, Timothee Chalamet, and Florence Pugh are all currently in negotiations to star in Sony’s retelling of the American classic.
