Check out these facts about the SKY FALL series, given to us by Shannon Messenger!
The Sky Fall series has come to an end, but we still don’t know everything about the series. Author Shannon Messenger has released several facts regarding the Sky Fall series.
The Sky Fall series is about a teen named Vane discovering the reason he survived the category five tornado that killed his parents. After the tornado a beautiful, dark-haired girl haunts his dreams every night. He discovers that the girl is real and she has been sent to protect Vane at all costs– Even if it means sacrificing her own life. Vane and Audra soon discover the reason why Vane survived: There are warriors coming to destroy them and Vane is destined to stop them. However, they also have to face the forbidden romance that’s grown between them.
Check out these facts:
1. The setting of the books (the Coachella Valley, CA) is where I grew up.
So all those details about the date roaches and the dust storms and the unrelenting heat are things I’ve personally experienced. Vane’s house is also modeled off of my childhood best friend’s house, which was right next to a date grove and a fire-scarred shack.
2. Since the series is fantasy set in a contemporary location, I wanted to describe any “real” elements as accurately as I could.
So not only did I return to the desert many times, but I also stayed in Santa Monica and went to the pier in the middle of the night to see how many lights they turned off, what kind of people were around, etc. (side note: the valet at my hotel gave me a very weird look when I asked for my car at 4am and directions to the pier…)
3. I also considered it essential research to eat at In-’n-Out as often as I could.
And I’m with Vane – animal style all the way.

Official Synopsis for Let the Sky Fall:
Vane Weston should have died in the category-five tornado that killed his parents. Instead, he woke up in a pile of rubble with no memories of his past — except one: a beautiful, dark-haired girl standing in the winds. She swept through his dreams ever since, and he clings to the hope that she’s real.
Audra is real, but she isn’t human. She’s a sylph, an air elemental who can walk on the wind, translate its alluring songs, even twist it into a weapon. She’s also a guardian — Vane’s guardian — and has sworn an oath to protect him at all costs.
When a hasty mistake reveals their location to the enemy who murdered both their families, Audra has just days to help Vane unlock his memories. And as the storm winds gather, Audra and Vane start to realize that the greatest danger might not be the warriors coming to destroy them, but the forbidden romance growing between them.
