FANTASTIC BEASTS 2 has found its next fantastic beast – er, cast member: GREEN ROOM star Callum Turner.

Callum Turner is in negotiations to join the Fantastic Beasts franchise as the brother to main character Newt Scamander, played by Eddie Redmayne. Director David Yates has already cast Jude Law to play a young Albus Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts 2.

If you’re unfamiliar with the name Callum Turner, don’t feel bad; the London-born actor is fairly new to the scene. He began on English television shows like Leaving, The Town, and Ripper Street before playing a leading role in 2014’s Queen and Country. He appeared in Victor Frankenstein and Assassin’s Creed in 2015. His big break came in Jeremy Saulnier’s Green Room. Since then, he has starred in Tramps, the 2016 War and Peace miniseries, and Marc Webb’s upcoming The Only Living Boy in New York.

The plot for Fantastic Beasts 2 is still largely under wraps, and unlike the Harry Potter franchise, we can’t look to a book series for spoilers (unless you count the textbook after which the movies are titled). Here’s what we do know: it will take us closer to the events described in the original Harry Potter novels, when the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (played by Johnny Depp) clashed with Albus Dumbledore, years before he became the headmaster at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But don’t get your hopes up for too many answers in the next film. After all, we still have three more movies to go.

The sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens on November 16, 2018.
