Alleged Ilvermorny house names hit the web unexpectedly!

Source code can be a very interesting thing, if you know how to read it!

Harry Potter enthusiast and software developer Ian Cervantez seems to have (somewhat accidentally) cracked the code behind the houses at Hogwarts’ American wizarding school equivalent, Ilvermorny. While peeking at the source code on Pottermore— which is legal and not particularly difficult if you’re computer savvy– Cervantez stumbled across a layer of coding for a quiz saved in the system.

It read: “Where do you belong? Horned Serpent, Wampus, Thunderbird or Pukwudgie…”

Horned Serpent, Wampus, Thunderbird, and Pukwudgie are all names of magical creatures from the Harry Potter universe and while it may be convenient that the houses introduced to fans through Fantastic Beasts all happened to be named after… well… fantastic beasts, the information certainly hints at Ilvermorny houses as the most likely bet.

Pottermore refused to confirm this information when confronted with it by MuggleNet, but the site has promised fans more information about Ilvermorny and the American wizarding society in the coming months.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, the 1920s-based Harry Potter universe spin-off starring Eddie Redmayne, hits theaters on November 18, 2016.
