FANTASTIC FOUR subplot that never made it on screen is revealed.
Since its debut, it’s been clear that Fantastic Four was given the slice-and-dice treatment by FOX, including some extensive re-shoots. Even director Josh Trank spoke out against the final product, which was not his cut of the footage at all:
Among those plot points on the cutting room floor from the original cut was the Fantasticar, the infamous vehicle used by Marvel’s first family. In the Ultimate Fantastic Four comics, Reed Richard built the Fantasticar as a child. The Fantasticar is even hinted at in the trailer when young Reed is asked about his flying car by a teacher, to which he replies “I’m not working on that anymore.”
It looks like that was originally meant to be a reference and not just a joke, because the Fantasticar is definitely in this new behind-the-scenes footage from the film!
Fantastic Four is currently in theaters.
