According to a report  from Deadline, pre-production for Divergent has already begun, with casting soon to follow! It’s being reported (on IMDB) that Divergent is to be released in 2015.. which seems like a very, very long time from now.

However, I’m thinking that there may be a few awesome things in the waiting time:

  1. I think we might only have to wait until March of 2015, which would be better than November. This is because Summit and Lionsgate are now together, and The Hunger Games (from Lionsgate) is taking the November slot where the Harry Potter movies once held dear. I believe we will have an open March slot where Twilight (and THG #1)used to be, and this is because Warner Brothers, Summit and Lionsgate seem to rotate between March and November with their release dates for these franchise-type movies.
  2. Casting will start (hopefully?!) this year.. so there will be a LOT to gush over as far as fan-casting, finding the perfect Tris, the most lovable Tobias.. and so fourth. And what’s the fun of a franchise movie, if not for the wait time that allows us to geek out?
  3. Divergent and Insurgent have both topped #1 Best Sellers lists all over… once Detergent, er, I mean.. the final book in the series, is released, it will no doubt rest at #1 as well. Divergent #3 will be released in 2013, and 2 years later Divergent movie #1 will come out. Mockingjay was released in 2010 and the Hunger Games came out in 2012. So I really don’t think there’s anything to worry about with a gap between production of books and movies.. rather, I think it will help boost sales and popularity of both!
