Netflix released the final trailer for the upcoming season of 13 Reasons Why giving us the premise on what this final season is going to be about – a whodunnit drama?
Season one of 13 Reasons Why told us a tragic, dramatic, and very real portrayal of sexual assault, bullying, and teen suicide that hit home for a lot of very real people who watched it. Season two dealt with more of the same in regards of the aftermath of the events in season one, with some repercussions to those affected by it, and we still felt it.
Season three, however, seems to be going in somewhat of a different direction as it kills off one of the key characters to create a “whodunnit” storyline that looks to keep us on our toes as to whom out of all the ones affected by that character committed the murder.
But honestly, do we really care anymore? Especially in regards to the death of the rapist Bryce Walker? And should we care? We’re not sure if that’s what the writers are asking us to do at this point, as this story seems to stretch itself thin just to keep Netflix viewership up.
We know there are many talented actors that are on the show, and we want to support them, but how much will this third season hurt the overall story? We hope not much. We hope not at all. We’re still rooting for these characters to find peace, after all. But to what end? Hopefully the writers can prove us wrong and give us something that helps those in need of mental and emotional support.
Season 3 of 13 Reasons Why airs Friday, August 23rd.
