Final casting announced for Disney’s PERCY JACKSON Series

Disney has already been working on the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series for quite some months now and, according to author Rick Riordan, they are pretty much near done with principal photography for season one.

For that reason, Rick announced that Lance Reddick (John Wick movies, Bosch) and Toby Stephens (Lost in Space, Black Sails) have been cast to play Zeus and Poseidon, respectively.

The whole cast for this first season of the Percy Jackson series has been momentous with the addition of some very well-known actors, including Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hermes), Megan Mullally (Alecto), Virginia Kull (Sally Jackson), Jay Duplass (Hades) and Timothy Omundsen (Hephaestus). They’ll be joining the main three stars of the show – Walker Scobell, who’ll play the titular character, Aryan Simhadri, who’ll play Percy’s best friend and guardian Grover Underwood, and Leah Sava Jeffries, who’ll play fellow demigod and quick-witted friend Annabeth Chase.

With such a nice mix of veterans and fresh faces, and it being a series, I hope Disney let the showrunners flesh out the characters well enough for both readers and non-readers to enjoy.

The Sun and the Star
Coming May 2, 2023

Though we’ll have to wait until 2024 for the characters to show up on our screens, readers have nothing to worry about what with the Nico di Angelo book, The Sun and the Star, coming in May, and a brand-spanking new Percy Jackson book, The Chalice of the Gods, coming this September!

This is certainly going to be an exciting year for Camp Half-Blood!
