Despite one of the largest pushes from SHADOWHUNTERS fans to save the series, the network is still ending the popular show.
Unfortunately, for all Shadowhunters fans, Freeform still plans to end the popular urban fantasy series after finishing up the second half of the third season. And we finally know what that’s going to start.
Monday, February 25th, 2019 is when the premiere of season 3b will air on the forward-moving network, which will be the start of the final twelve episodes of the show, including the 2-hour series finale.
It hasn’t been confirmed as to how much of the series ending will match the books, but if it’s like how the show has been, it’ll probably be a combination of parts of the books and show’s creative team. However it ends, it’ll be bittersweet for us all.
As fans of The Mortal Instruments books, we already loved characters, and since season one, we’ve grown to love the cast and the way they’ve made the Shadowhunters characters their own, from Kat McNamara’s fiery and stubborn Clary to Alberto Rosende’s nerdy yet loyal Simon to Dominic Sherwood’s cocky yet vulnerable Jace to Emeraude Toubia’s independent and fierce Isabelle to Matthew Daddario’s honorable and intelligent Alec to Harry Shum Jr.’s smooth-moving magical and fabulously gay warlock Magnus, as well as the rest of cast.
We can’t wait for see these people on small screen, and although it is sad to know we only have twelve episodes to enjoy them, we hope this will be the best episodes of the show and that they are able to do the series, and the books, justice by ending them with hope and good closure.
