Gender-swapped Firefly will be a challenging friend turned foe in GOTHAM Season 2!
Things are about to get explosive in Season 2 of FOX’s hit drama, Gotham! The series has cast Michelle Veintimilla to play a female version of the popular villain Firefly. Also known as Bridgit Pike, the character is sister to several members of an arsonist gang who undergoes a major change to become a formidable villain in her own right.
Here’s the official description from the show:
“Enslaved by her brothers, a notorious gang of arsonists, Bridgit Pike is forced into the family business. When she catches the eye of Selina Kyle, the young Cat Woman and the soon-to-be-Firefly team up to put Bridgit’s firestarting skills to good use. But after a deadly encounter with the Pike Brothers, the meek Cinderella is transformed into a vengeful supervillain, hell bent on destroying those who have wronged her.”
There are two male incarnations of Firefly seen in the comics: A visual effects artist named Garfield Lynns, a fairly tame robber, and an explosives expert named Ted Carson, the more dangerous and unpredictable of the two.
The casting comes shortly after Leo Fitzpatrick was cast in a recurring role as a member of an arsonist gang, now knwon to be one of Firefly’s brothers.
Michelle Veintimilla is relatively new to Hollywood and has had roles on Fathers and Daughters, Not Cool, and The Depths, among others.
Gotham is set to return on September 21, 2015.
