Being a teenager is hard enough without a life-threatening illness, but that’s exactly what Stella and Will have in the new YA adaptation Five Feet Apart.
The movie tells the story of the two characters portrayed by
Cole Sprouse and Haley Lu Richardson who have the same illness– cystic fibrosis– and a very different philosophy on how they should handle it. Stella is regimented in her care while Will doesn’t see the point in holding on to hope. As the two slowly make a connection, they’ll have to decide what they’re willing to risk if they want to both live longer and live happily.
CBS Films previously released a “teaser” trailer for the film that runs about the same length as the new trailer.
Five Feet Apart, the novel, is currently on the New York Times bestseller list, but the film isn’t a true book-to-movie adaptation. In a rare occurrence, the screenplay written by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis came first and CBS Films out to have the emotional YA novel was adapted by
Rachael Lippincott after the fact. Either way, it’s a big hit with readers!
Watch the new trailer at the top of the post, then snag your copy of the book via Amazon while you wait for the movie, which hits theaters on March 22, 2019.
