FIVE FEET APART Director To Helm HOLD BACK THE STARS Movie

After the success of Five Feet Apart, actor/director Justin Baldoni has found his next big project: An adaptation of Katie Khan‘s 2017 novel Hold Back The Stars!

The story follows Carys and Max, who are stuck in space with only 90 minutes of oxygen left. As the two drift, they look back at life on their “utopian” Earth and their dangerous, slow-blooming love story… in a society where love is outlawed.

The book doesn’t strictly fall under YA, but Deadline describes the movie as such, suggesting that the ultimate plan is to age down the characters.

The article included a statement from Baldoni, who will also be a producer on the project.

“I’m thrilled to be working with my friends at Lionsgate and 21 Laps on this unique and exceptional story. As a firm believer that love has the power to unify and conquer all, I deeply connected with Hall’s unique take on the ‘star-crossed lovers’ story. With its thrilling action, deep-rooted romance, and powerful message, I couldn’t be more excited to bring this story to life.”

The project is still in the early stages of development, but we’ll share more details as they’re released!
