Freeform cancels another YA-based series, Bella Thorne’s FAMOUS IN LOVE

FAMOUS IN LOVE, starring Bella Thorne, is cancelled after two seasons on the cable network Freeform.

It’s not a good time to be on a show based on a YA book when it comes to Freeform. The cable network made the recent move to drop Famous in Love, which was based on the young adult book of the same name by Rebecca Serle. The series starred Bella Thorne as Paige Townsen, an average college girl who is chosen to star in major film franchise, and becomes the new “It” girl.

The network gave a standard Dear John to the fans of the show without much detail:

“We are proud to have had the opportunity to air Famous In Love,” Freeform said in a statement. “After many discussions we have made the difficult decision not to renew the show for a third season. We want to thank our colleagues at Warner Horizon and our incredible producers, writers, cast and crew, especially Marlene King, for their creativity, hard work and dedication.”

First it was Shadowhunters that Freeform to an ax to, and which is still being supported by many of its fans to be picked up by another network. (Fans latest attempts on the #SaveShadowhunters campaign have been an air ad in the form of a banner being flown over the Netflix HQ in Los Angeles, and digital billboard in New York Times Square.)

We’re not sure if the fans for Famous in Love would be willing to go this far for the series, but we wholly admire if they choose to do so.
