At yesterday’s Bloomberg Business of Entertainment Breakfast, Disney chairman Alan Horn squashed the hopes of many by admitting a sequel to Frozen hasn’t even been discussed. While he didn’t say part 2 of the top grossing animated film of all time wouldn’t ever happen, it definitely doesn’t look imminent. That being said, Horn revealed that Disney’s only focus with the musical right now is making sure it is Broadway-ready.
Another sequel that looks to be on hold is the fifth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. When asked about it, Horn stated, “It’s possible. We haven’t seen a screenplay yet that I’ve been able to sign off on.… There’s a lot of variables that affect the final outcome once it leaves the studio lot, so we are very careful.”
