A new Frozen inspired stage musical will take over at the Hyperion Theater in Disney’s California Adventure park in the summer of 2016. The Hyperion Theater has been home to Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular since 2003 and will make its final performance on January 10, 2016 after almost 14,000 shows.
VP of Operations at California Adventure Kris Theiler spoke a little about the news:
“Thanks to our amazing cast and the many, many fans, ‘Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular’ has enjoyed a longer run at Disney California Adventure park than we could have ever imagined. Today, we are excited to share more exciting news about another story that will soon come to life for guests at the Hyperion Theater. With larger-than-life musical numbers, wondrous scenery and lovable characters, ‘Frozen’ will begin entertaining guests in 2016.”
The new Frozen Musical promises to stay true to the film with “Anna and Elsa carrying the audience on an emotional journey that includes show-stopping production numbers and a few unique theatrical twists.”
Years after Aladdin came to California Adventure, it came to Broadway. Similarly, a Broadway production of Frozen is in the works. Hopefully it will have as much success as Aladdin has had.
Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular will definitely be missed, but are you excited to see Frozen come alive on stage?
