GAME OF THRONES Cast Talk Moving Beyond the Books and Characters They Miss

Game of Thrones cast - Sansa Stark

IGN Interviews Game of Thrones Cast

Some of the Game of Thrones cast got to talk about their characters and what becomes of them now that the HBO series is moving beyond the latest book that’s out.  In this interview with IGN, we get to hear from Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy),  Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth), Carice van Houten (Melisandre) and Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) about the idea of not knowing what’s going to happen to their characters now that they don’t have the source material to go on.

What we know is that books four and five, A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons, will be adapted into the series this season and maybe fill in some of Jon’s story from the third book, A Storm of Swords.  But we’re just guessing on that last part.  Considering that Feast and Dance happen in the same timeline, but from different characters’ points of view, it does seem to make sense that they would combine both books for that reason.

So, of course, that means it’s very likely the following season will air before the next book, The Winds of Winter, even gets published.  Luckily, showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff have already consulted with author George R.R. Martin on what he plans for each of the characters.

For this fifth season, here’s a list of those joining the Game of Thrones cast for the first time this season:

  • Jonathan Pryce as The High Sparrow, a religious leader
  • Alexander Siddig as Prince Doran Martell, the leader of Dorne and brother to Oberyn Martell
  • Keisha Castle-Hughes, Jessica Henwick, and Rosabell Laurenti Sellers as the Sand Snakes, Oberyn’s bastard daughters
  • Toby Sebastian as Trystane Martell, Doran’s son
  • DeObia Oparei as Areo Hotah, captain of Doran’s guard
  • Enzo Cilenti as Yezzan, a former slave trader
  • Hannah Waddingham
  • Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje
  • Michael Condron
  • Nell Williams
  • Jodhi May

With that thought, the veteran Game of Thrones cast talk about those characters that they miss from the series:

Game of Thrones season 5 will premiere on HBO on April 12, 2015.
