GAME OF THRONES, OUTLANDER will bring fandom to the forefront of the Golden Globes!
The official awards season is usually a pretty sad time for fandom. With little consideration given to what the audiences enjoy, usual fandom gets left in the dust. That’s still mostly true for this upcoming awards season so far, but Game Thrones, Outlander, and some acting contenders for the Golden Globes will have fandom lovers cheering!
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has nominated both shows for Best TV Series, Drama. Game of Thrones is a regular contender in the category. Outlander is more of a surprise addition, given that it’s a new show and those typically don’t get recognized. Funny enough, Game of Thrones scribe George R.R. Martin was among those who expressed outrage when Outlander was completely snubbed by the Emmys.
Outlander also nabbed itself two nominations in the acting categories, including a Best Actress in a TV Series, Drama nom for Caitriona Balfe as the show’s main character, Claire Beauchamp Fraser, and a much-deserved Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Limited-Series or TV Movie nod for Tobias Menzies as the notorious Black Jack Randall and his descendant, Frank Randall.
Additionally, The Hunger Games fans may be excited to see Jennifer Lawrence receiving a Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Comedy nomination for her first post-franchise role in Joy.
The Golden Globes will air on January 10, 2016.
