GAME OF THRONES Reveals Another Subplot Cut From Season 5

George R.R. Martin’s A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE book series features a vast world of plots upon plots upon subplots, some of which just can’t make it into its television adaptation, GAME OF THRONES, for the sake of overall flow.

If you haven’t read the books… HERE BE SPOILERS!

In previous interviews, GoT showrunners have mentioned that they will be using either the Dorne or Iron Islands subplot from A FEAST OF CROWS. With the confirmation that Dorne is definitely part of Season 5, the Iron Islands and the Greyjoy family subplot appear to have gotten the boot.

From Entertainment Weekly:

While the Dorne-based subplot will be in season five, producers have previously indicated the Iron Islands subplot has been omitted. This makes sense as the show already has so many characters and settings to juggle, plus is adding the Dorne scenes. Unlike in AFFC, where Martin could bench half his major characters to take on two major subplots, a TV series must stick with its cast members (and contractually has to use its actors or risk losing them).

While that means we won’t be getting Victaron or Asha Greyjoy, fan reaction generally seems in favor of the choice to include Dorne instead.

Which subplot do you prefer?
