George R.R. Martin Confirms Unexpected Deaths in GAME OF THRONES Series

Even ASOIAF readers won’t see some deaths in Game of Thrones coming

This season, it looks like those who like to record their friends and family’s reaction may have to turn the camera on themselves.  A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin has stated that unexpected deaths in Game of Thrones will happen as showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff will kill of characters that weren’t killed off in the books.

“People are going to die who don’t die in the books, so even the book readers will be unhappy. So everybody better be on their toes. [The show’s co-creators] David [Benioff] and D.B. [Weiss] are even bloodier than I am.”

Considering how certain characters’ popularity with fans has never been a factor in past deaths, it probably won’t be a factor in this coming season either.  Although I’m hesitant to consider any of the major characters that have a continuing story in the future books will be affected.  But far be it for me to say it isn’t possible.

Martin confirmes unwritten deaths in Game of Thrones this season

You might be thinking that, hey, may character will still survive because the actor that plays him is signed on through season 7!  I hate to say it, but that still doesn’t mean much, especially when there’s scheduled to be several flashbacks scenes through the season.  And even so, it’s still no guarantee.   So, once the season stars, beware.  Anyone can go.

Anyone.
