Get a Clear Look at Captain America’s Suit for AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Empire Magazine‘s latest digital issue has some really nice images of Captain America’s suit in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron supermovie.

Included in the images are that of Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, and director Joss Whedon directing Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye, aka Clint Barton.

Elizabeth Olsen got to talk about her character and those of Aaron Taylor-Johnson‘s character, Pietro Maximoff, in that this movie is liken to an origin story for the siblings

“The coolest thing about Scarlet Witch is, because you’ve never seen her, we got to create how she moves. Joss was really inspired by dancers, and so he knew that he wanted to change visually how she moves, to be more like a dancer than a fighter. I didn’t really have to do much stunt training. Instead I trained with a dancer, Jenny White, which was its own kid of soreness, but it wasn’t what I thought it would be…

Age of Ultron is almost our origin story, so we don’t have one of those montages where heroes learn all of their powers in five minutes. We are still discovering the things we can and cannot do. The extent of her powers isn’t fully explored in Ultron. But she can manipulate objects. And she has visions, and she has the ability to share them. She’s not a mutant!” [source]

Obviously, the superminds at Marvel have been keeping the look of Vision under tight wraps and that’s fine.  There needs to be some kind of restraint for the movie reveal, and Vision is a good one to keep out.

But once he’s out, it looks like Age of Ultron will be his introduction, as actor Paul Bettany has hinted at in recent news:

“That’s the really great thing about the Marvel gig for me. I have never known if I have had a job six months out ever in my life. And now I know that they have plans and I can be even more judicious about the stuff that I do outside of that work. I can wait for the right thing and feel really attached to it.”

It’s not surprising that Vision will return for other Marvel movies, it’s just a matter of which ones.  More than likely, he’ll be back for Phase III, and probably the Inifinity War movies, which will be in the capable hands of the Russo Brothers, not Joss Whedon.

As to why Joss Whedon will step down from directing the next two installments in the Avengers line, here’s what he had to say:

“I couldn’t imagine doing this again. It’s enormously hard, and it [will] be, by [the time I would make ‘Avengers 3 & 4’], a good five years since I created anything that was completely my own. So it’s very doubtful that I would take on the two-part Infinity War movie that would eat up the next four years of my life. I obviously still want to be a part of the Marvel Universe – I love these guys – but it ain’t easy. This year has been more like running three shows than any year of my life. It is bonkers.” [source]

As good as he is in directing ensemble casts, I can only imagine the physical, psychological, and emotional toll it can take on one person.  Plus, the commitment to do so can be overwhelming to even think about, so as much as I’d hate to see him go, I’m accepting of the fact that he can’t do it all.  And I’m glad of the fact that Whedon knows his own limits as well.
