Get A Surprising New Look at Krall In STAR TREK BEYOND TV Spot

STAR TREK BEYOND TV Spot shares a major Krall reveal!

Have you watched the Star Trek Beyond trailers and wondered why the film took a man as visually appealing as Idris Elba, who portrays Krall, and covered him in prosthetic make-up? You’ve not the only one. However, a revealing new TV spot for the film suggests that there’s much more to the story.

In the spot, Uhura (Zoe Saldana) watches a transmission featuring a scarred-up but very human version of Krall, who says “The Federation do not care about us. They abandoned this planet long ago. You’ll probably never see me again. But if you do, be ready.” The scene certainly suggests Krall transforming into the alien creature, perhaps at will.

Idris Elba has previously spoken about the very separate society his character is based out of and how the U.S.S. Enterprise’s crew will learn that the Federation isn’t everyone’s hero. The crew will question the Federation’s goals for the first time on this new planet, leaving them with a big moral conundrum.

“There are purists that believe in independence, and believe that we’re all made differently for a reason, and will fight tooth and nail to defend that,” Elba said of Krall’s society. “There’s massive relatability to modern world politics in that sense.”

Star Trek Beyond hits theaters on July 22, 2016.
