The Strucker kids break down their powers and abilities in a new promo for THE GIFTED!

A new preview for The Gifted is making sure fans know that the new power-wielding show is part of the fan-favorite X-Men universe.

In the preview, Lauren Strucker (Natalie Alyn Lind) explains her abilities to her little brother, Andy (Percy Hynes White), who has powers of his own but has had less success controlling them.

The show follows the Strucker family, who live in a near-future world where the majority of the population is anti-mutant. The Strucker father, Reed (Stephen Moyer), is the District Attorney responsible for putting away most mutants in their area. But when Andy levels part of his school while being attacked by bullies, both kids’ powers are revealed and the family must go on the run among the very people Reed has been prosecuting.

While the series features a couple familiar X-Men, like Blink (Jamie Chung) and Polaris (Emma Dumont), it mainly focuses on original characters. While we don’t think we’ll be seeing the likes of Professor X or Wolverine, you still never know who could pop up.

The Gifted premieres on FOX on Monday, October 2, 2017.
