Well, actually, it’s a prelude to the Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials story, which highlights some of the characters that are involved in the second movie, which comes out in September.

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials Official Graphic Novel Prelude comes out in June from BOOM! Studios, and will tell stories that illuminate the lives and backgrounds of several characters featured in the second movie. Artists Marcus To, Andrea Mutti, Nick Robles, and Tom Derenick bring to life stories by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, and by the film’s director and writer, Wes Ball and T.S. Nowlin.

You’ll notice that James Dashner‘s name is actually not included in this, so it makes me wonder if it’s at all canon with the books.  Nevertheless, the Maze Runner movie was done well, and I trust Wes Ball to do an excellent job in interweaving the two remaining books into cinematic format without destroying the essence of the story or the characters.

I also hope we get some images from inside the graphic novel soon!
