Get ready for 17th century European antics with THE GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO VICE AND VIRTUE on screen!

Love, Simon director and juggernaut TV producer Greg Berlanti optioned the rights to Mackenzi Lee‘s beloved YA novel The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue with plans to adapt it for television.

Gentleman’s Guide follows Henry “Monty” Montague, a 17th century British Lord who’s lived a wild lifestyle full of gambling, drinking, and sexy nights with both men and women. But Monty’s father wants him to get it together and take over the family estate. Monty plans one last “Grand Tour” of Europe with his biracial best friend (and also biggest crush,) Percy, and his younger sister, Felicity. But Monty’s antics go one step too far, the three find themselves at the center of a manhunt across the country involving highwaymen and pirates.

According to Variety, Berlanti plans to find a different showrunner for the project and is still shopping it around to networks.

Berlanti Productions currently produces The CW’s DC superhero lineup including Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Black Lightning as well as Riverdale, Blindspot, and Deception. The company is also behind the upcoming shows You and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Mackenzi Lee’s sequel to Gentleman’s Guide titled The Lady’s Guide To Petticoats and Piracy hits shelves on October 2, 2018. You can preorder it now via Amazon or Indiebound.
