Marvel releases GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Synopsis

Marvel finally released an official Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 synopsis that involves a whole lot of goodies for everyone.

Marvel is really working to keep the Marvel name on top as the ever-expanding cinematic universe draws in more and more viewers and followers outside of the comics it transpired from.  With that in mind, they’ve released the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 synopsis:

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

We have three major point that stick out to us, the first being Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and the revelation of who his father could be, something that director James Gunn had already stated as being different from who his father is in the comics.

Then there’s the “old foes become new allies” thing.  We can speculate several characters being in this particular reveal – that of Yondu (Michael Rooker), Quill’s former mentor-like guy, or Gamora’s (Zoe Saldana) adoptive sister/nemesis Nebula (Karen Gillan).  Both Rooker and Gillan were signed on to return, however, some have added in the Collector (Benicio del Toro) in the mix, but nothing has been confirmed regarding del Toro’s return.  So, we’ll see.

Finally, there’s the final point in the Vol. 2 synopsis, and that’s of the “fan-favorite characters from the classic comics” joining in.  There are several additions to the cast, according to IMDB, but no character names attached to some of them.  Although Nova Prime (Glenn Close) will be returning, there are sure to be other classic comics characters to be included.  I won’t even begin to speculate who they are as the list is far and wide.
