GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 begins production with Kurt Russell in tow!
The early negotiations were announced two months ago, but now it’s official: Kurt Russell has officially signed on for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as Peter Quill’s mysterious father!
Director James Gunn spread the news via Facebook in a short statement:
My favorite movie as a small child was The Strongest Man in the World, so I’m glad to announce that, yes, Kurt Russell has joined our cast and, yes, he is more awesome a dude than I ever could have imagined.
Little is known about the character, but James Gunn and his collaborators have made multiple statements nothing that Star-Lord’s father will NOT be J’son of Spartax as seen in the comics. The film will focus on Peter Quill’s journey to discover the truth about his family, so there’s no knowing how much we’ll see of dear old dad amidst the action.
Additionally, Gunn released the first teaser image for the film!
Production for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is currently underway. The film is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
