Carrie Pilby

Rising to fame with her Oscar nomination for her 2010 film True Grit and starring alongside Asa Butterfield in the Sci-Fi film Ender’s Game, Haliee Steinfeld has been pretty busy with other projects in her pocket. But her next move is to take on the YA book-to-film movement. The starlet is set to play the female lead in the adaptation of 2003’s Carrie Pilby.

The book focuses on Carrie, a 19-year-old genius who graduates from college with absolutely zero social skills. With the help of her therapist, Carrie is given a five-point plan to help her expand her rigid beliefs and get herself out into the world.

And if that’s not enough a really cool fact about the adaptation is that the whole production will include an all female crew. First time director Susan Johnson will take the reins for the production, the screenplay was written by Kara Holden, and the producers include Suzanne Farwell and Susan Cartsonis. Along with a female lead character, and the novel written by a female author. Can you say “We can do it!”

You can catch Hailee Steinfeld in the anticipated comedy Pitch Perfect 2.
