Lin-Manuel Miranda in talks to join Emily Blunt in MARY POPPINS sequel!
If you’re obsessed with the wildly entertaining Hamilton musical starring Lin-Manuel Miranda, we’ve got some good news for you!
According to THR, the stage phenom is currently in negotiations to star alongside Emily Blunt in Disney’s upcoming Mary Poppins sequel, in which he will play a character named Jack.
Jack is described as a “lamplighter friend” of Mary Poppins, who returns with the former nanny to help a grown Jane and Michael Banks following a personal tragedy.
Neither Miranda nor his assumed co-star have officially been announced by Disney– it’s rare once announced, but these starring deals do occasionally to fall through. However, Lin-Manuel Miranda already has a relationship with Disney as the composer of the fall 2016 release Moana.
The Mary Poppins sequel will be directed by Rob Marshall (Into The Woods) with original music by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. The script is still in development and no tentative release date has been announced.
