A new German production of HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD will be opening in Hamburg!
After recent announcements about new Harry Potter and the Cursed Child productions in Melbourne and San Francisco, it looked like Cursed Child news might slow down for a bit, as the new productions were put together and the two current productions continued their runs in London and New York. But the Wizarding World waits for no muggles, and a new production in Hamburg, Germany has just been announced.
ICYMI, Harry Potter und das verwunschene Kind (@HPTheaterDE), the first non-English language production, opens in Hamburg, Germany in the spring of 2020. More info at https://t.co/S5bhdwoYbB #CursedChildDE #HarryPotterTheaterDE pic.twitter.com/QP3NgRTz6J

This will be the first non-English production of the play, and so it will be interesting to see how different aspects of the play translate and possibly change with the language change. The production will open at the Theater am Großmark in Hamburg in spring 2020. Harry Potter und das Verwunschene Kind marks the fifth production of the play, which first opened at the Palace Theatre in London’s West End in summer 2016. A production at Broadway’s Lyric Theatre is currently running as well; it has had extreme success, having won 6 Tony Awards, including Best Play.
