Warner Bros will launch a Harry Potter concert series!
The Harry Potter series is alive and well with the new Fantastic Beasts movie and the Cursed Child play, and now a Harry Potter concert series is in the works!
CineConcert has partnered with Warner Bros to launch a series of Harry Potter film concert tours, beginning with a Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone concert tour in 2016. The concert series will reformat each Potter film into an orchestral concert experience, giving fans a live symphony orchestra performance of the film score.
The score will be performed in-sync with the film, which will be projected onto a high definition forty-foot screen. The original dialogue and sound effects from the film will be kept intact, with only the score being pulled out. So the fans will get to experience the music live, adding a whole new level to the movie that we all know and love.
The “Harry Potter Film Concert Series” will premiere at Philadelphia’s Mann Center for the Performing Arts on June 23rd with the Philadelphia Orchestra. The San Diego Symphony, Nashville Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Grand Rapids Pops and Symphony Silicon Valley will perform John Williams’ “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” score during later stops on the North American tour.
CineConcert president Justin Freer spoke about the partnership:
“This is a wonderfully unique franchise to celebrate. The ‘Harry Potter’ film series is one of those once-in-a-lifetime cultural phenomena that continues to delight millions of fans around the world. We now have an opportunity to add to the following.”
This is not the first film that CineConcerts has applied its unique model to. Other films including Gladiator, The Godfather, It’s a Wonderful Life, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and Star Trek have had concert series adapted with the company.
The Harry Potter series has touched millions of people over the years, and I’m sure that this new Harry Potter Concert Series will add a new level of excitement to the series we all love.
Tickets to the Philidelphia premiere of “The Harry Potter Film Concert Series” will be available through Ticketmaster, MannCenter.org and Mann Center’s box office starting Feb. 20.
