HBO announces the developers behind the new potential GAME OF THRONES spinoffs!

Game of Thrones is massively popular, even on the cusp of its seventh season, so it’s not surprise that HBO is in the market for a spinoff. But the show has such a rich, fantastical basis and a hefty lineup of characters, so it’s hard to say in which direction a future spinoff should go.

HBO is easing their directional dilemma by exploring multiple ideas at once.

According to Variety, the station has hired four writers to develop scripts for four different potential spinoffs. Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island),  Carly Wray (Mad Men), Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Golden Circle), and Brian Helgeland (Legend) are all contributing scripts, and the former two will also be working with author George R.R. Martin. Current showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are attached to all four projects.

The writers are developing the projects at their own pace, according to a spokesperson, as it seems the network won’t risk rushing in to any under-cooked ideas.

It would be safe to assume that the goal is to narrow the four projects down to one dominant story line, but HBO definitely has the fan support and capabilities to offer multiple spinoffs.

Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres on July 16, 2017.
