HIS DARK MATERIALS 1×02 Promo

His Dark Materials is officially underway and we now have our first look at the second episode. Titled “The Idea of The North,” which suggests that, for now, Lyra and Mrs. Coulter will not actually be traveling there. Instead, we’ll be keeping the action in London.

The trailer’s first look at London shows a London that viewers will recognize, with familiar bridges and city landscapes. With a keen eye, you can even spot the Tower of London in the far back.

The synopsis also reads:

Lyra arrives to her new life in London, determined to find Roger with Mrs. Coulter’s help; the Gyptians continue their search for the missing children and the elusive Gobblers.

With a community still reeling from Billy Costa’s sudden disappearance, episode two dives into action with the Gyptians as they prepare to head up north to find and save their missing children.

Meanwhile, Lyra is facing her own battle against Mrs. Coulter, who may or may not be actually helping our young protagonist. The trailer suggests that Mrs. Coulter’s true colors will start to show once they arrive in London. Although she seems to be taking Lyra under her wing, we here at The Fandom are a bit suspicious about her true motives.

The trailer also shows a few scenes from “The Weeks Ahead” showing Lee Scoresby, Iorek Byrnison, and endless snow. Whatever Lyra finds in London, it feels almost like deja vu, at least for Game of Thrones fans. Winter’s coming again folks. Hold on tight.

A storyteller at her core, Shannon loves writing about the stories that inspire her everyday. When she’s not busy writing and binge watching TV, you can catch her out exploring the world and trying new foods and activities. “At least try it once. Even if it doesn’t work out, at least you’ll have a good story to tell.”
