HIS DARK MATERIALS Miniseries Releases First Teaser

Keep your daemons close and your enemies closer. The first look at BBC’s His Dark Materials miniseries is here!

The show is adapted from Philip Pullman‘s series of the same name, which follow young Lyra Belacqua, a girl from an alternate dimension version of London, as she discovers friendship, conspiracies, a strange truth-telling device, different and exciting societies within her world, and a rare phenomenon called Dust.

HBO has come in board to co-produce the massive BBC miniseries, which will star Dafne Keen as Lyra Belacqua, James McAvoy as Lord Asriel, Ruth Wilson as Mrs. Coulter, and Lin-Manuel Miranda as Lee Scoresby, among others.

The teaser is giving us glimpses of some major book moments, starting was Lyra spying on Lord Asriel at Jordan College, a chilling entrance for Mrs. Coulter, and a quick glimpse of the alethiometer snapping shut. However, there are two big things missing from this teaser: The daemons (for which the CGI is not quite done yet) and a release date.

Watch the teaser at the top of the post!

Though Season 1 hasn’t come to the screen yet, the miniseries has already been picked up for a second season.
